PROOFREADING SERVICES

SUBMISSION PACKAGE PROOFREAD - just £20.
This is my most popular service, and for good reason. I'll proofread your cover letter, synopsis and the first 5,000 words of your manuscript for just £20. A huge proportion of manuscripts get rejected by editors for sloppy grammar. Don't spoil your chances. Few people can afford to have their entire manuscript line edited, but you can have that initial, most important submission proofread for avoidable mistakes.
And if you're not completely satisfied, you don't pay a thing.
That's how confident I am. I first proofread your 5,000 words. Afterwards, and only if you're completely happy, you pay me the £20 via PayPal. Then I proofread your cover letter and synopsis.
And not only that. You also get three writing guides as PDF files for FREE:
~ SUBMITTING A MANUSCRIPT; Avoiding the pitfalls contains valuable information about your initial submission. Learn how to write a killer cover letter and tackle the dreaded synopsis. As a bonus, the cover letter and synopsis for my thriller Shark Bait are included for your reference (four full manuscript requests and a spot on the shortlist for AM Heath's Criminal Lines competition 2015). This is invaluable stuff.
~ GENERAL WRITING TIPS; Writing Well includes guidance and advice I've found invaluable over the past two decades.
~ THE LIST; Agents, Publishers, Mags. Your reference guide. Literary agents, publishers accepting unagented submissions, and paying short story markets. Just note it has a UK sway.
And remember, you don't pay a thing unless you're satisfied. I use Microsoft Word tracked changes, with comments in the right margin. You can accept or reject each one.
As a writer myself, I know the value of a good editor. I've worked with some of the best in the business, most recently Sarah Hornsley (literary agent at The Bent Agency), and before that agent Susan Yearwood and editors Shelley Instone and Diana Paul. I was a moderator and longstanding member of the popular writing forum My Writers Circle for many years, and have completed a writing course by The Writers Bureau, amongst others.
C.V. PROOFREAD - flat rate of £10. Don't let poor grammar scupper your chances of landing your dream job!
WEBSITE PROOFREAD - from £25. Obviously, the more content on your website the higher the cost. Don't put potential customers off with sloppy grammar.
MANUSCRIPT PROOFREAD - £4 per 1,000 words. I can give your manuscript fresh eyes. Catch those grammar slips we all miss from time to time. Point out the odd awkward phrase or that paragraph that doesn't quite make sense. I can do this for fiction or non-fiction.
This is not a line edit (line editors charge four times what I do), it is a proofread. I won't tell you if I think a character is weak, or the piece needs restructuring, or it needs more pace. Why? Because that's all subjective, and I don't want to force my preferences on your manuscript. Other readers have different preferences.
So I won't tell you to change your story. But I will help you improve your writing. Grammar is not subjective. Agents will reject anything with poor grammar - don't let it spoil your chances! If you think you have a great book but know grammar is not your strong point, drop me an email. I can help.
Click here to see a sample proofread. You can even download it and practise accepting/rejecting the changes!
Minimum charge £4. If your manuscript needs a little bit more work than just a proofread, I'll let you know.

PIANO BACKING TRACK RECORDINGS - £20 per hour (contact for quote)
I record a lot of backing tracks for schools. These are used in assemblies, for class music lessons, for choirs... any occasion children might be singing. YouTube has backing tracks for most things, but if you can't find what you're looking for - the song isn't in the right key (too high or too low), it's not the right length, too fast or slow, or maybe you can't find it anywhere - then contact me for a quote. I can source most things.
PIANO TRANSCRIPTION SERVICES - £20 per hour (contact for quote)

You have a piece on piano you really want to learn, but you can't find an arrangement within your abilities. I've been there. Even some 'really easy piano' books are nothing of the sort. I can help. Transcribing piano pieces for lower difficulty levels is what I do. I have two piano series devoted to just that.
The cost will depend on how much work needs doing. If you have a piece you're trying to learn and you just need it simplifying... well, that's one thing. If it's a full symphony you want transcribing, that's another matter. Contact me for a quote. For most things, I hope to have pieces transcribed in an hour. That's still £20 for a piece of music though, so make sure you've had a good look round for a suitable arrangement.
